It’s another realistic writer confession. This is an update on my week as a writer. Your week may look different. That is okay. That’s the whole point of this confessions series. To show that every writer doesn’t have to be perfect and highly successful. To let other writers know that it is okay to have smaller goals.
Confessions of a Realistic Writer #7
Summary of My Week
This week has been great. I continue to write every day. Even on vacation! It’s not something I typically bother to do. But, I’m super motivated and making good progress. My vacation hasn’t been too scheduled either, so it’s not hard to find time. But sometimes I choose not to write on vacation.
Although I wrote every day, I wasn’t very productive. One day, I think I wrote for just a few minutes. I’m finding more errors that I’ll fix in future rounds of revision. But it’s a little frustrating to feel like my story is getting worse not better.
I wrote every day this week! I’m super proud of myself for writing on vacation. It’s a quick trip to visit my mom, so it’s nice to still be able to write. I’ve made progress revising one chapter and have moved on to another. So, forward progress is definitely a highlight.
Thoughts and Goals
With being able to write on vacation when I normally don’t, I’ve been thinking about how it’s good to be flexible as a writer. Sometimes we are in circumstances that enable us to do more. Sometimes we are too busy, and that is okay. So never be afraid to reevaluate your time and your goals to make sure you are taking care of yourself but also maximizing your writing life.
Next week, I want to keep writing every day and make a plan for November. I’m not doing NaNoWriMo, but I still want to up my game for November.
Until next time,
